Our readers say it best:
Special Education News answers a need in education for in-depth, timely news related to educating students with disabilities. The Web site and newsletter are journalistic publications centered on the news of the special education field. The Web site is also designed to offer unique resources to special education professionals in one convenient place. These include places for educators and others to exchange their views, find links to important information at other sites on the Web and keep track of news and events across the country.Frequency: The Web site's front page consists of breaking news stories from Washington and around the country. The front page is updated daily. A new Monthly Survey, found at the bottom of the front page, also appears each month. Any letters to the editor or other feedback will be updated weekly or more often as needed. The Special Ed. Newsline, published biweekly and distributed via e-mail to requestors, is a digest of articles posted on the web site. It also includes updates on new items appearing on the web site. Scope: Though significant legislation and other regulatory activity has a major and recurring impact on special education, it is not the sole focus of Special Education News. This publication endeavors to cover events both within and outside the Beltway and address a wide variety of important areas. A few examples: research and practical teaching and discipline methods, school funding from the state and local school district perspectives, and new technology and their applications in the classroom and the special education professional's office. Separation of Editorial and Advertising: Special Education News is an independent newsletter and web site, not affiliated with any company, organization, school district or government agency. Special Education News relies solely on advertisements for its funding. It does not, however, cater to advertisers. We intend to report the news as it is, regardless of whether it pleases the advertisers. This will result in a respectable, reliable news source for all involved in special education. We believe advertisers will appreciate this straightforward approach. Reprint Rules: Reprints and copies are permitted, in fact encouraged, for teachers, administrators and anyone else in the Special Education News target audience for the express purpose of disseminating information. Please take care to properly attribute any reprints to Special Education News, including the web site address www.specialednews.com wherever possible. Reprinting or reusing any of the content in the Special Ed. Newsline or the Special Education News web site by for-profit publications or organizations is expressly prohibited without the written consent of the publisher. |
