AAMR PUTS TWO FREE BOOKS ON MENTAL RETARDATION ONLINE

November 6, 2003

The American Association for Mental Retardation recently posted downloadable versions of two reference books for those interested in learning more about mental retardation. Embarking on a New Century: Mental Retardation at the End of the 21st Century is a collection of 18 essays detailing advancements in public policy and services for people with mental retardation from 1975 to 2000, AAMR says. Out of the Darkness and into the Light discusses changes the state of Nebraska has made in its mental retardation policy, a successful model that has been emulated by other states.

Both books can be found as PDF documents, viewable with the free Adobe Acrobat Reader software, at AAMR's Disability BooksOnline web site. The site makes books and other documents available online in various formats, including PDF, HTML, MS Reader, ION Online Viewer and Open e-book.
